What is INTERCity?
All football teams are invited to take part in the INTER Futsal "INTERCity Futsal Tournaments and Futsal Festivals" in Belfast.
Futsal is one of the world's fastest growing sports and complements football in the best way possible. Indoor Futsal provides a fast-paced, technical, competitive and fun environment, ensuring spectators have dry conditions and players can develop at a quicker pace through consistent play, multiple touches per game minute and in-game rotations.
These city-wide tournaments are designed for three age brackets for both boys and girls, with separate events for adults. We also encourage individuals to create new teams. This form allows you to register your interest as an individual so we can support you in creating or joining a team.
These events are designed to be inclusive of ability and focused on a grassroots experience.

Boys Sections
- Section A — 2013/14 Blue & Red
- Section B — 2013/14 Green Development
- Section C — 2015/16 Blue & Red
- Section D — 2015/16 Green Development
- Section E — 2017/18 Blue & Red
- Section F — 2017/18 Green Development
Girls Sections
- Section G — 2013/14
- Section H — 2015/16
- Section J — 2017/18
Men's Sections
- Section K — 2006–2009 (16–19 year olds)
- Section L — Over 16s, no upper age limit
How It Works
Competition Format
Every team is guaranteed a minimum of 6 games across the competition.
- All teams play 3 randomised games (35, 40, 45 or 50 minutes).
- All teams are placed into a Long Table and selected to play opponents based on their first 3 results.
- All teams then play a further 3 selected games.
- Top teams advance to Knockout games to determine winners.
- Games played Wednesday & Friday evenings and Saturday & Sunday mornings.
- Games commence 20th April, completing no later than 28th June.
Expectations
Rules & Regulations
Court & Play
- Futsal is played on a hard court surface with kick-ins (no throw-ins).
- 5 players on court. A minimum of 3 players on the bench is required or points/goals are forfeited.
- Continuous substitutions — players may return to court throughout the match.
- Maximum 15 players named per squad per match.
Fixtures & Administration
- Teams must fulfil all assigned fixtures. Failure to do so prohibits the team and club from future INTER Futsal events.
- Games are only rescheduled when deemed appropriate — not on request.
- All players must be registered in advance of games.
- Team sheets must be complete and handed to the referee prior to kick-off.
- Each team must have 2 points of contact.
- All teams must agree to competition rules in advance.
Fines
- Yellow Card — £1
- 2 Yellow Cards (same match) — £6
- Red Card (standard) — £5
- Red Card (physical/verbal abuse) — £10 (up to £100 depending on severity)
- All fines must be paid within 48 hours of issue.

Exclusions
These tournaments are designed for grassroots footballers. Players and teams involved in high-level competitions are not eligible to enter.
Players NOT Permitted to Play or Register
- Play for a NIFF Registered Team (anyone in the 2025/26 season)
- Play for any 1st Team Football in the Premiership, Championship or Premiership Development League
- Play International Futsal
- Play for any 1st Team of the Women's Premiership
- Part of the JD Academy
- Play in the Top National Youth Leagues (NIFL)
- Live outside of County Antrim or County Down (unless registered to a club from these counties)
Teams NOT Permitted to Enter
- Played in ANY NIFF Competition at any age bracket in seasons 2024–26
- Play in the Premiership, Championship or Premier Championship Development League
- Play outside of both County Down and County Antrim
- Play in the Women's Premiership
- Play in the Top National Youth League (NIFL)
